Red cabbage and apples in red wine and vinegar

Melt 150g butter in a large oven proof dish which has a lid. Add 2 cloves garlic and 2 red onions finely sliced and cook for 15 minutes. Add 1 red cabbage, quartered with core removed thinly slices and sauté for 10 minutes. Add 2 apples cut into eighths. Add 75ml red wine vinegar and 350ml red wine. Reduce then cover and cook in oven at 180 degrees celcius for an hour and a half.
